After analyzing a 30-meter digital elevation model from the Vermont Center for Geographic Information for aspect, I chose only to display southeastern, southern, and southwestern facing slopes. Southern slopes are shown in a bright orange while southeastern/western slopes are shown in a lighter shade of orange. My advice to my future self? Start looking to buy a home in those bright orange areas. The benefits of passive solar energy are enormous. Northern slopes are only good for skiing.

Nice website. This is the first that I have seen of it, but already I like the “data as art” theme. For a more comprehensive estimate of energy partitioning across the landscape, see the command r.sun in GRASS GIS.
